Did you have any prior development or coding experience?
Yes. Our team of developers has years of experience in the IT field and all of the team members are certified professionals.
What was the most challenging aspect of developing mobile app?
Food Ingredients Scanner app is based on the latest innovations in machine text recognition. It takes full power of the CPU of a mobile device in order to detect and scan each ingredient, read, and recognize it. The not easy part of developing our application was to collect and analyze our database of ingredients with more than 4000 items.
Name a few of your favorite apps and reason you love them.
This, of course, depends on the mobile operating system, but we like the Health app where you can track and check activity during the day. Generally speaking – every app that brings you closer to a healthy way of living.
How long have you been working on this app?
We have been working on this app for over a year now.
What need of the user did you have in mind when developing this app?
We wanted to make people more aware of what they eat and buy. These days, many companies sell food that is not natural and eventually not good for our health. Thousands of ingredients are listed in the labels but the average user does not understand even 80% of what they mean. With each passing day, the ‘healthy’ topic is becoming an important part of our society in a world full of toxic and harmful substances. People should be informed about what they consume.
In what way do you think your app is better than similar apps on the market? Please describe in detail what innovation you think you bring and what you are proud of in your app.
Food Ingredients Scanner is a universal solution for scanning ingredients’ labels. Similar apps on the market rely on barcodes or user input while our solution is automated. There is no need for the person to write anything – just open the scanner, point it to the label and you will get instant response on what the app has found. Text recognition in real time is quite a useful feature. Of course, our app supports direct ingredients search if the user prefers to find information manually.
What are your future plans and expected features of the coming new versions of this app?
We would like to expand it with more user interaction features. Maybe add ratings, option for data input and many more exciting features.
